The 6th Meeting of the COMCEC Transport and Communications Working Group was held on October 22nd, 2015 in Ankara, Turkey with the theme of “Urban Transport in mega-cities in the OIC Member Countries”.

The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 15 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Transport and Communications Working Group namely, Afghanistan, Djibouti, Gambia, Guinea, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Malaysia, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Turkey and Uganda. Representatives of the COMCEC Coordination Office, Islamic Development Bank (IDB), SESRIC, Transport For All, İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality and Municipality of Jakarta have also attended the Meeting.

The Representatives of the Member States have shared their experiences, achievements and challenges in the field of urban transport in mega-cities in their respective countries. Additionally, the issue of policies that can be implemented to improve the quality of services provided in this field was discussed. The 5th Meeting of the COMCEC Financial Cooperation Working Group was held on October 15th, 2015 in Ankara, Turkey with the theme of “Retail Payment Systems in the OIC Member Countries.

The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 12 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Financial Cooperation Working Group namely, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Indonesia, Jordan, Kuwait, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Qatar, Tunisia, Uganda and Turkey. The 6th Meeting of the COMCEC Agriculture Working Group was held on October 8th, 2015 in Ankara, Turkey with the theme of of “Promoting Agricultural Value Chains in the OIC Member Countries.”

The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 10 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Agriculture Working Group namely, Bangladesh Gambia, Indonesia, Iran, Jordan, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey. Representatives of COMCEC Coordination Office, SESRIC, UNIDO and SÜTAŞ Group and Royal Tropical Institute (KIT) have also attended the Meeting.

The Sixth Meeting of the COMCEC Trade Working Group was held on September 17th, 2015 in Crowne Plaza Hotel Ankara, Turkey with the theme of “Establishing Well-Functioning National Trade Facilitation Bodies in the OIC Member Countries”.

The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 16 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Trade Working Group namely, Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Chad, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Jordan, Morocco, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Tunisia and Turkey. Representatives of COMCEC Coordination Office, International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (IDB/ITFC), UNCTAD and International Road Union (IRU) have also attended the Meeting.

The Representatives of the Member States have shared their experiences, achievements and challenges in the Meeting. Moreover extensive deliberations were made on the National Trade Facilitation Bodies (NTFBs) in the OIC Member States with a view to establish policy advises for both establishing well-functioning bodies and improving effectiveness of the present structures.

The 6th Meeting of the COMCEC Poverty Alleviation Working Group was held on 10-11 September 2015 in Ankara, Turkey with the theme of “Post-2015 Development Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals: Improving Basic Services Delivery in the OIC Member Countries”.

The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 27 Member States namely, Afghanistan, Albania, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, Cameroon, Djibouti, Egypt, Gabon, Gambia, Guinea, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Mauritania, Niger, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Turkey, Uganda and Uzbekistan. Representatives of COMCEC Coordination Office, SESRIC, Islamic Development Bank, Society for Community Strengthening and Promotion of Education, Balochistan (SCSPEB) and some other guests have also attended the Meeting.

The Representatives of the Member States have shared their experiences, achievements and challenges on delivery systems of basic services in their respective countries. On the second day of the Meeting the Joint Study reflecting the perspective of OIC on the implementation of the SDGs and Post-2015 Development Agenda has been presented. Furthermore, the Meeting deliberated on the preparations regarding the Exchange of Views Session of the 31st COMCEC Ministerial Meeting and come up with some policy recommendations to be submitted to the 31st COMCEC Session. The Fifth Meeting of the COMCEC Trade Working Group was held on March 26th, 2015 in Crowne Plaza Hotel Ankara, Turkey with the theme of “Improving the Role of Eximbanks in the OIC Member States”.

The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 17 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Trade Working Group namely, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, Mozambique, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Sudan, Tunisia and Turkey. Representatives of COMCEC Coordination Office, Islamic Centre for Development of Trade (ICDT), Islamic Development Bank Group (IDB/ITFC and ICIEC) and Berne Union have also attended the Meeting.

The Meeting has considered the Studies namely “Improving the Role of Eximbanks in the OIC Member States” commissioned by the COMCEC Coordination Office (CCO) and the “COMCEC Trade Outlook 2014-Revised Edition” prepared by the CCO.

The 4th Meeting of the COMCEC Financial Cooperation Working Group was held on March 19th, 2015 in Ankara, Turkey with the theme of “Improving Banking Supervision Mechanisms in the OIC Member Countries.”

The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 19 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Financial Working Group namely Bangladesh, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Gambia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Mozambique, Niger, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Sudan, Togo, Tunisia, Turkey And Uganda. Representatives of COMCEC Coordination Office, Islamic Development Bank Group (IDB), SESRIC, Secretariat of the OIC Member States’ Stock Exchanges Forum, Secretariat of the COMCEC Capital Markets Regulators Forum , World Bank Global Islamic Finance Development Center Turkey have also attended the Meeting.

The Representatives of the Member States have deliberated on the supervisory framework of the Banking Sector in the Member Countries, the challenges faced and the policy options to address these challenges.
