The 22nd Meeting of the COMCEC Trade Working Group was held online on May 6, 2024 with the theme of “ Developing the Quality Infrastructure in the OIC Member Countries”.
The meeting was attended by experts from 19 member countries and also representatives of SESRIC, SMIIC, OIC and COMCEC Coordination Office (CCO).
Representatives of Member States and International Organizations shared their experiences and cases of successful practices on the quality infrastructure, standardization and metrology.
The preliminary findings of the research report, which is being prepared specifically for the theme of the meeting, were shared with the participants.
The final version of the report will be submitted to the 23rd Meeting of the Trade Working Group on September 19-20.
The 22nd Meeting of the COMCEC Transport and Communications Working Group was held online on May 6, 2024 with the theme of “Development of Intelligent Transport Systems in the OIC Member Countries”.
The Meeting was attended by experts from 26 Member States, representatives of SESRIC, IsDB, COMCEC Coordination Office (CCO) and Private Sector.
Representatives of Member States, international organizations and the private sector shared their experiences and examples of successful implementation on the development of intelligent transport systems.
The preliminary findings of the policy guideline that is being prepared specifically for the theme of the meeting were shared with the participants. The final version of the report will be submitted to the 23rd Meeting of the Transport and Communications Working Group on September 24-25.
The 22nd Meeting of the COMCEC Poverty Alleviation Working Group (PAWG) was held on 2 May 2024, in Ankara, Türkiye, with the theme “Alleviating Adverse Effects of Natural Disasters on Poor Segments of Society in the OIC Member Countries”.
The representatives of 17 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Poverty Alleviation Working Group, attended the Meeting. The meeting was further attended by the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), Islamic Chamber of Commerce & Development (ICCD) and COMCEC Coordination Office (CCO).
Representatives of Member States and international institutions shared their experiences, successful practices and challenges regarding the natural disasters in OIC member countries and discussed how preparedness for disasters can be developed that can contribute to strengthening resilience against disasters and disaster management. Participants also listened to the preliminary findings of the research being prepared specifically on the theme of the Meeting.

The 21st Meeting of the COMCEC Financial Cooperation Working Group was held on 30 April 2024, in a virtual-only format, with the theme of “Digital Transformation of Payment Systems in OIC Member Countries.
The representatives of 22 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Financial Cooperation Working Group, attended the Meeting. The meeting was further attended by the representatives of the SESRIC, SMIIC, ICD, AAOIFI, OIC Exchanges Forum, COMCEC Capital Markets Regulators Forum, OIC-COMCEC Central Banks Forum, and COMCEC Coordination Office.
Experts from the Member Countries and international institutions working in this special field have shared their experiences, successful practices, and challenges in the digital transformation of payment systems. A presentation on Malaysia as the selected case-country study has also been delivered at this Meeting.
The preliminary findings of the research report being prepared on the theme of the meeting have been shared with the participants. The final version of the report will be submitted to the 22nd Meeting of the Financial Cooperation Working Group on 16-17 September 2024.
The 22nd Meeting of the COMCEC Tourism Working Group was held on May 2nd, 2024 in a virtual-only format, with the theme of “Developing and Branding Gastronomy Tourism Destinations within OIC”
The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 22 Member States. Representatives of COMCEC Coordination Office, SESRIC and Islamic Tourism Center (ITC) have also attended the Meeting.
The Representatives of the Member States have shared their experiences, achievements and challenges regarding developing and branding gastronomy in their respective countries. The participants have deliberated on the aforementioned theme and considered the study “Developing and Branding Gastronomy Tourism Destinations within OIC” commissioned by the COMCEC Coordination Office.

The representatives of 23 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Agriculture Working Group, attended the Meeting. The meeting was further attended by the COMSTECH, SESRIC, IsDB, ICD, ICCIA and COMCEC Coordination Office (CCO).
Representatives of the Member States and international institutions have shared their experiences and best practice examples about developing livestock production and fishery to foster food security. Participants have also listened to the preliminary findings of the research report which is being prepared specifically on the theme of the Meeting. The final version of the report will be submitted to the 23rd Meeting of the Working Group to be held in September, 2024.
