The 8th Meeting of the COMCEC Transport and Communications Working Group was held on October 27th, 2016 in Ankara, Turkey with the theme of “Improving Road Safety in the OIC Member States”.

The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 13 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Transport and Communications Working Group namely; The Gambia, Guinea, Indonesia, Iraq, Kuwait, Morocco, Niger, Nigeria, Qatar, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Uganda. Representatives of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), World Bank (WB), SESRIC, AMEND, ECORYS&SWOV and COMCEC Coordination Office (CCO) have also attended the Meeting.

The Representatives of the Member States have shared their experiences, achievements and challenges in the field of road safety in their respective countries. Additionally, the issue of policies that can be implemented to improve road safety was discussed. The Meeting has considered the Studies “Improving Road Safety in the OIC Member States” and the “COMCEC Transport and Communications Outlook 2016” prepared by the COMCEC Coordination Office.

The Seventh Meeting of the COMCEC Financial Cooperation Working Group was held on October 20th, 2016 in Crowne Plaza Hotel Ankara, Turkey with the theme of “National and Global Islamic Financial Architecture: Problems and Possible Solutions for OIC Member Countries”.

The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 15 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Financial Cooperation Working Group namely, Afghanistan, Algeria, Azerbaijan, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cote D’Ivoire, Gabon, Iran, Kuwait, Palestine, Senegal, Sudan, Tunisia, Uganda and Turkey. Representatives of COMCEC Coordination Office, Islamic Development Bank (IDB), AAOIFI, SESRIC, World Bank GIFDC, TKBB and some other guests have also attended the Meeting.

The Representatives of the Member States have shared their experiences, achievements and challenges on improving Islamic financial architecture in their respective countries. The Eighth Meeting of the COMCEC Agriculture Working Group was held on October 13th, 2016 in Crowne Plaza Hotel Ankara, Turkey with the theme of “Reducing Postharvest Losses in the OIC Member Countries”

The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 13 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Agriculture Working Group namely, Cameroon, the Gambia, Iraq, Iran, Indonesia, Ivory Coast, Jordan, Palestine, Qatar, Senegal, Sudan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. Representatives of COMCEC Coordination Office, Islamic Development Bank (IDB), Doga Seed, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and SESRIC have also attended the Meeting.

The regional workshop activity of the Gambia finance project titled “Towards and Improved Institutional Framework For Islamic Finance In the Gambia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone (2015-GMBFINAN-131)” was held from September 19 to 21, 2016 in Banjul, Gambia.

The 8th Meeting of the COMCEC Trade Working Group was held on October 6th, 2016 in Ankara, Turkey with the theme of “Improving The Border Agency Cooperation Among the OIC Member States for Facilitating Trade.”

The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 18 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Trade Working Group namely, Algeria, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Sudan, Turkey and Uganda. Representatives of COMCEC Coordination Office, ICDT and Cross-Border Research Association have also attended the Meeting.

Within the framework of the project a one-week training program was conducted in Amman, Jordan.

Within the framework of the project titled “Improving small ruminants productivity by using different technologies as silage, feed block and hydroponic in Palestine, Jordan and Tunisia” being implemented by Ministry of Agriculture of Palestine, a one-week training program was held on 25-30 August, 2016 in Amman, Jordan with the participation of 9 representatives from Palestine, Jordan and Tunisia. During the program, representatives shared country experiences with the participants and implemented several field practices.

The 8th Meeting of the COMCEC Tourism Working Group was held on September 1st, 2016 in Ankara, Turkey with the theme of “Muslim Friendly Tourism(MFT): Developing and Marketing MFT Products and Services in the OIC Member Countries.”

The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 13 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Tourism Working Group namely, Azerbaijan, Brunei Darussalam, Burkina Faso, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Tunisia, Turkey and Uganda. Representatives of COMCEC Coordination Office, ICDT, SESRIC, SMIIC, Crescent Rating, Dinar Standard, Halalinn and Sofyan Hotels have also attended the Meeting.

Online Project submission period has been completed under COMCEC Project Funding 4th Call for Project Proposals. We would like to thank you for your interest.

Within the framework of the project titled ” Short Course on Strategies in Enhancing Tourism Workforce in Community-Based Tourism within OIC Member Countries  (2015-MYSTOURI-130)” implemented by Malaysia, trainings with a view to develop capacity of experts in community-based tourism and study visits in this regard were performed. 14 participants in the area of community-based tourism from The Gambia, Senegal, Palestine, Pakistan, Maldives, Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei were trained.

Within the framework of the project titled ” Enhancing The Capacity of Craft Producers In OIC Member Countries (2015-GAMTOURI-144)” implemented by the Gambia, trainings with a view to develop craft producers’ professional and operational skills for better service delivery have been started. 20 participants in the craft producing sector from The Gambia, Senegal and Mali will be trained within a training of trainers perspective.
