Training program on enhancing the capacity of craft producers was conducted within the framework of the “Enhancing The Capacity of Craft Producers & Customers Service In OIC Member Countries” project (2016-SDNTOURI-251).

Within the framework of the project titled “Enhancing The Capacity of Craft Producers & Customers Service In OIC Member Countries” implemented by the Ministry of Tourism, Antiquities and Wildlife of Sudan, the training program regarding enhancing the capacity of craft producers was held on 13-26 August 2017 in Khartoum City.

The COMCEC Coordination Office has completed the preliminary evaluations of the project proposals submitted under the 5th Project Call of the COMCEC Project Funding. Independent assessors have also been employed in the evaluations of the project proposals.

The 10th Meeting of the COMCEC Trade Working Group was held on November 2nd, 2017 in Ankara, Turkey with the theme of “Special Economic Zones in the OIC Member States”.

The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 23 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Trade Working Group. Representatives of COMCEC Coordination Office, ICCIA, SESRIC, ITFC, World Free Zone Organization and MESBAŞ have also attended the Meeting.

The Representatives of the Member States have shared their experiences, achievements and challenges in developing special economic zones in their respective countries. The 9th Meeting of the COMCEC Financial Cooperation Working Group was held on October 26th, 2017 in Ankara, Turkey with the theme of “Diversification of Islamic Financial Instruments”.

The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 16 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Financial Cooperation Working Group. Representatives of COMCEC Coordination Office, IDB, SESRIC, CIBAFI, AAOIFI, World Bank, Secretariat of OIC Member States’ Stock Exchanges Forum and Secretariat of the COMCEC Capital Markets Regulators Forum have also attended the Meeting.

The 10th Meeting of the COMCEC Transport and Communications Working Group was held on October 18th-19th, 2017 in Ankara, Turkey with the theme of “Improving Transnational Transport Corridors in the OIC Member Countries: Concepts & Cases” and “Transport and Communications Outlook of COMCEC 2017”.

The meeting was attended by the representatives of 24 Member States. These states are Afghanistan, Algeria, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, The Gambia, Guinea, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Mauritania, Morocco, Niger, Nigeria, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, The United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, Turkey, Uganda and Yemen.

The meeting was further attended by the representatives of the COMCEC Coordination Office, TRACECA, SESRIC, Islamic Development Bank Group (IDB), Northern Corridor Transit and Transport Coordination Authority (NCTTCA) and International Transporters Association (UND).

The representatives of the Member States have shared their experiences, achievements and challenges in transnational transport corridors in their respective countries. Further they have deliberated the policy issues that might be implemented to enhance the efficiency of the transnational transport corridors. The meeting has mainly considered the studies titled “Improving Transnational Transport Corridors in the OIC Member Countries: Concepts & Cases” and “Transport and Communications Outlook of COMCEC 2017” prepared by the COMCEC Coordination Office.
