The 14th Meeting of the COMCEC Tourism Working Group was held on October 31st, 2019 in Ankara, Turkey with the theme of “Developing Multi-Destination Tourism Corridors in the OIC Member Countries”.

The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 18 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Tourism Working Group namely, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Djibouti, Egypt, Gambia, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritania, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Tunisia, Turkey and Uganda. Representatives of COMCEC Coordination Office, Turkic Council, SESRIC, DinarStandart, Jerusalem Tourism Cluster (JTC), and H.I.S. Global have also attended the Meeting.

The Representatives of the Member States have shared their experiences, achievements and challenges regarding multi destination in their respective countries. The Meeting has considered the Studies “Developing Multi-Destination Tourism Corridors in the OIC Member Countries” commissioned by the COMCEC Coordination Office and the “COMCEC Tourism Outlook 2019” prepared by the COMCEC Coordination Office.

The 14th Meeting of the COMCEC Trade Working Group was held on October 24th, 2019 in Ankara, Turkey with the theme of “Improving Customs Transit Systems in the OIC Member Countries”.

The representatives of 20 OIC Member States attended the Meeting. Representatives of COMCEC Coordination Office, SESRIC, SMIIC, UNESCAP and Ankara Logistics Base have also attended the Meeting.

The Representatives of the Member States have shared their experiences, achievements and challenges on customs transit systems in their respective countries. During the Meeting, the participants mainly considered the Studies titled “Improving Customs Transit Systems in the Islamic Countries” and “COMCEC Trade Outlook 2019”.

The 13th Meeting of the COMCEC Financial Cooperation Working Group was held on October 17th, 2019 in Ankara, Turkey with the theme of “Improving the Takaful Sector in the OIC Member Countries”.

The representatives of 19 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Financial Cooperation Working Group, attended the Meeting. Representatives of COMCEC Coordination Office, SESRIC, SMIIC, IFSB, ICIEC, the OIC Exchanges Forum, the COMCEC Capital Markets Regulators Forum, OIC-COMCEC Central Banks Forum, and NEOVA Insurance have also attended the Meeting.

The Representatives of the Member States have shared their experiences, achievements and challenges on takaful sector in their respective countries. The Meeting has considered the Study “Improving the Takaful Sector in Islamic Countries” commissioned by the COMCEC Coordination Office.

The 14th Meeting of COMCEC Agriculture Working Group was held on 9-10 October 2019, in Ankara, with the theme of “Increasing the Resilience of the Food Systems in Islamic Countries in Face of Future Food Crises.”

The meeting was attended by the representatives of 20 Member States. The meeting was further attended by the representatives of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), IDB Group, Pankobirlik, ICCIA, IOFS, SESRIC, SMIIC and COMCEC Coordination Office.

The representatives of the Member States have shared their experiences, achievements and challenges in increasing the resilience of food systems in their respective countries. Furthermore, in line with the relevant resolution of the 34th Ministerial Session of the COMCEC, the 14th Meeting of the AWG has also served as the preparatory platform for the Ministerial Exchange of Views Session of the 35th COMCEC Session to be held on November 27th, 2019 with the theme of “Sustainable Food Systems in the OIC Member Countries.” The participants have deliberated on the aforementioned theme and developed a set of policy recommendations to be submitted to the Ministers for their kind consideration during the Ministerial Exchange of Views Session.

The 14th Meeting of COMCEC Transport and Communications Working Group was held on October 3rd, 2019, in Ankara, with the theme of “Risk Management in Transport PPP Projects in the OIC Member Countries”.

The meeting was attended by the representatives of 21 Member States. The meeting was further attended by the representatives of the IDB Group, Association of Turkish Consulting Engineering and Architects (TMMOB), Yapı Merkezi Group, SESRIC and COMCEC Coordination Office.

The representatives of the Member States have shared their experiences, achievements and challenges regarding risk management in transport PPP projects in their respective countries. Further, they have deliberated the policy issues that might be implemented to enhance the capacity of member countries to effectively manage risks related to the transport PPP projects. The meeting has mainly considered the studies titled “Risk Management in Transport PPP Projects in the Islamic Countries” and “Transport and Communications Outlook of COMCEC 2019” prepared by the COMCEC Coordination Office.
