The 40th Follow-up Committee Meeting of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), undertaken the presidency by our President, was held in Ankara on 22-23 May 2024.
The 40th Meeting of the COMCEC Follow-up Committee was attended by the Permanent Chairmanship of the COMCEC, Turkey, the members of the Committee, namely, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Qatar, Brunei Darussalam, Gambia, Senegal, Kuwait, Indonesia, Nigeria and Palestine, as well as representatives of the OIC General Secretariat and relevant OIC institutions.
During the Meeting, the latest developments regarding the COMCEC’s efforts to enhance economic and trade cooperation among the member countries were discussed, and the agenda of the 40th COMCEC Ministerial Meeting to be held on November 2-5, 2024 was formulated and adopted.
The meeting also condemned the Israeli attacks on Gaza and emphasized the importance of acting together for the Palestinian cause as Islamic Countries. The meeting called for an end to the inhuman brutality committed by Israel against Gaza and emphasized that without the political unity of Palestine, there can be no real peace and tranquility in the region. It also underlined the importance of providing the necessary economic support to Palestine and called on OIC Member States to continue to provide all necessary support in this regard.
The Meeting, where the latest developments regarding the important programs and projects of the COMCEC, particularly theOIC Preferential Trade System (TPS-OIC), the Arbitration Center of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, COMCEC Project Finance, COMCEC Al-Quds Program, were also discussed, ended with the closing session held on 23 May 2024.
