The 10th Meeting of the COMCEC Transport and Communications Working Group was held on October 18th-19th, 2017 in Ankara, Turkey with the theme of “Improving Transnational Transport Corridors in the OIC Member Countries: Concepts & Cases” and “Transport and Communications Outlook of COMCEC 2017”.

The meeting was attended by the representatives of 24 Member States. These states are Afghanistan, Algeria, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, The Gambia, Guinea, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Mauritania, Morocco, Niger, Nigeria, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, The United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, Turkey, Uganda and Yemen.

The meeting was further attended by the representatives of the COMCEC Coordination Office, TRACECA, SESRIC, Islamic Development Bank Group (IDB), Northern Corridor Transit and Transport Coordination Authority (NCTTCA) and International Transporters Association (UND).

The representatives of the Member States have shared their experiences, achievements and challenges in transnational transport corridors in their respective countries. Further they have deliberated the policy issues that might be implemented to enhance the efficiency of the transnational transport corridors. The meeting has mainly considered the studies titled “Improving Transnational Transport Corridors in the OIC Member Countries: Concepts & Cases” and “Transport and Communications Outlook of COMCEC 2017” prepared by the COMCEC Coordination Office.

The 10th Meeting of the COMCEC Poverty Alleviation Working Group was held on October 5th, 2017 in Ankara, Turkey with the theme of “Education of Disadvantaged Children in the OIC Member Countries: The Key to Escape from Poverty”.

The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 19 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Poverty Alleviation Working Group namely, Albania, Azerbaijan, Benin, Cameroon, Egypt, Gabon, the Gambia, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Tunisia, Turkey and Uganda. Representatives of COMCEC Coordination Office, IDB, SESRIC, Mother and Child Education Foundation (AÇEV), Madrasati, Muslimat NU Education Foundation and UNESCO Senegal Office have also attended the Meeting.

The Representatives of the Member States have shared their experiences, achievements and challenges in education of disadvantaged children in their respective countries. The Meeting has considered the Studies “Education of Disadvantaged Children in the OIC Member Countries: The Key to Escape from Poverty” commissioned by the COMCEC Coordination Office and the “COMCEC Poverty Outlook 2017” prepared by the COMCEC Coordination Office.

The 10th Meeting of the COMCEC Agriculture Working Group was held on September 28th, 2017 in Ankara, Turkey with the theme of “Improving Agricultural Market Performance: Creation and Development of Market Institutions”.

The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 14 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Agriculture Working Group namely, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivorie, Gabon, Gambia, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Tunisia and Turkey. Representatives of COMCEC Coordination Office, SESRIC and International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) have also attended the Meeting.

The Representatives of the Member States have shared their experiences, achievements and challenges in improving market performance through creation and development of market institutions in their respective countries. The 10th Meeting of the COMCEC Tourism Working Group was held on September 21st, 2017 in Ankara, Turkey with the theme of “Risk and Crisis Management in Tourism Sector: Recovery From Crisis in the OIC Member Countries”.

The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 14 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Tourism Working Group namely, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Gambia, Indonesia, Iran, Kyrgyz Republic, Malaysia, Maldives, Mali, Senegal, Somalia, Sudan and Turkey. Representatives of COMCEC Coordination Office, ICDT, SESRIC, WTTC, Tourism Development International and Tripfez have also attended the Meeting.

The Representatives of the Member States have shared their experiences, achievements and challenges regarding risk and crisis management in tourism sector in their respective countries. The Fifth Project Proposal Call

Relevant public institutions of the COMCEC Member Countries and Subsidiary, Specialized and Affiliated OIC Institutions operating in the field of economic and commercial cooperation can submit project proposals and eligible proposals will be funded under the COMCEC Project Funding. The submission of project proposals can be made until October 11th, 2017 through Online Project Submission System (project.comcec.org).

Projects can be designed in one of the 6 different cooperation areas (agriculture, finance, poverty alleviation, transport and communications, tourism and trade) and in accordance with sectoral themes announced in the COMCEC website (cpf.comcec.org).

Before the submission of project proposals, the information presented in the COMCEC website and the relevant project application documents available on the Online Project Submission System should be examined.
